KDE news: “The Dot” is a linux community website for KDE – the desktop package. You can read about KDE new design mention and comments and I would like to thank Kyle Cunningham and Nuno Pinheiro for critiquing and polishing my visual design of the site. I took this project from the visual redesign of the old The Dot site to a fully functional Drupal theme for the community to add to and build upon.
The main idea I had was to keep the layout simple as, being a news site, the main focus is the textual content. This sparseness of the design helps make any icons / images really pop off the page without clashing and keeping everything easy to read.
